- I suspect the problem is the software - I am using a Thinkpad and XP and it just does not work well at all BOTTOM LINE - DO NOT BUY I bought this when last in the states and wish I could return it - but not worth the shipping* Does not play well with others - constantly screwing up settings and if you use it will minimize the Skype window.* Poor user manual - looks like an after thought* No support on the web page* The concept is great -- The performance sucks.
But I have had absolutely no problems. The only complaints I have with it is the Skype interface/settings, but that isn't the phones fault.
I'll have to look at the manual to figure them out. I do wish some of the phone settings themselves were easier to discern by the graphics.
I purchased this product to use as my office phone with Skype while I work at home with my baby. Nice display.
All in all a good phone, especially for the price. I was worried that such a cheap phone would not work well, especially with a wireless connection.
There is a relatively lengthly cord attached to the phone, & it's more comfortable to hold then my cell phone.
Phone does work though and you can't beat free PC to PC calls anywhere in the world. I use it for MSN Messenger and about every third time I use it, the phone crashes my PC. The MS message is "driver issues." Tried updating phone driver, but didn't fix the problem.
So I purchased the cheapest phone I could just to see if I could use it. Amazon, you are changing the way people are shopping. They may be closed over the weekends. Software is incredibly easy and fast. Changed my mind about SKYPE.
I am very happy with Amazons service and selections on items unavailable in stores. I think this VOIP is taking off faster than expected and they were backed up on the staff. I do not like the hassle looking for parking place, store moving things around from the last time I spent 30 minutes looking, being followed by store managers and clerks, asking if you need help when the clerk needs help finding out where everything is herself-Amazon is resolving that problem. I would like to see Amazon put all items on the prime membership agreement. I do not live in a metro area with the latest technology-sometimes things takes a year, OR TEN, OR TWENTY before it hits Lafayette LA. If anyone is having trouble with the other person hearing or breaking up, plug it into a different USB.
I love it. I was over charged for some reason, but they reimbursed the overcharges. I thought all USB's were the same. The SKYPE service center does respond quickly. Here is one thing I found out. When I purchased the phone, I knew nothing at all about SKYPE or if could even get it.
That may explain why I did not get a response the next day. They settled my complaints and questions to my satisfaction.
all functions are clear and user friendly. i got it for 22 bucks, and certainly can't complain. so far i haven't had any problems with this phone. the only problem i have is that the little rubber thingy on the side of the phone that's supposed to cover an input for headphones is really flimsy and kinda annoying, so i just cut it off. i wanted to experiment with a peripheral for using skype, before investing in more expensive hardware, and am pleased. the software surprisingly integrated easily. the phone is lighter than i had expected, and i'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
